Xi’an, August 16, 2025 — At the foot of the Qinling Mountains, the 19th Qinling Low-Carbon Environmental Protection Campaign came to a successful close. Young volunteers from schools across China gathered for this eco-public welfare event themed “A Green Future Starts with Me.” Among all the shining young faces, 16-year-old Liu Hanzhi stood out with her calm demeanor and genuine dedication, becoming one of the most memorable volunteers of the event.

在本届活动中，刘涵之不仅参与了山林垃圾清理、生态修复区巡查等志愿任务，还主动加入了“低碳生活倡议小组”。她用简洁而富有感染力的语言，为现场的同龄人分享了自己的环保创意：“真正的环保，不仅是‘少用一张纸’，更是‘多想一步’——比如出行方式的选择、饮食结构的调整、电子设备的回收。”

During the event, Liu Hanzhi not only took part in forest cleanup and ecological patrols, but also volunteered to join the Low-Carbon Living Initiative Team. During the campaign, Liu Hanzhi and her teammates planted ginkgo trees symbolizing hope. She said, “Maybe ten years from now, when I return to the Qinling Mountains and see this tree grown tall, I’ll remember today — and the promise I made to become someone who makes the world better.”

在团队中，她不仅是一名认真执行任务的成员，更是一个积极带动他人、善于组织协调的青年领袖。无论是分配物资，还是帮助 younger volunteers 调整设备，她总是以温和、细致、充满力量的方式影响周围人。

Within the team, she was more than a diligent participant — she was a gentle leader who inspired others. Whether distributing materials or helping younger volunteers adjust equipment, she always brought calm, warmth, and quiet strength to those around her.

家与世界的双重课堂

Learning from Both Home and the World

刘涵之的环保意识，并非偶然萌生。她的家庭从小重视实践教育——她喜欢旅行、喜欢研究自然，也喜欢记录生活中的点滴变化。在母亲的鼓励下，她开始关注可持续发展议题，阅读关于气候变化、城市生态的书籍。她说：“每次看到新闻中关于极端天气的报道，我都会问自己：我们能做点什么？”

Liu’s environmental awareness didn’t appear overnight. Her family has always valued hands-on learning — she loves traveling, exploring nature, and recording small changes in life. Encouraged by her mother, she began reading about sustainability, climate change, and urban ecology. “Whenever I see news about extreme weather,” she said, “I always ask myself — what can we do?”
